In order to maintain your license in any of the lines of insurance, agents need 24 continuing education credits every two years, by their birthdate on the even year. At least 3 of these hours must be in ethics.

Insurance Pre-licensing
For those looking to earn a license
The State of Wisconsin requires all prospective insurance agents for all product lines to attend an approved course of study before taking the insurance exam. The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance requires that all applicants attend 8 hours of Principles of Insurance Ethics and Law plus 12 hours of education directly related to the product line. The 8-hour Ethics and Law component needs to be taken within the last 12 months before your exam.
