The Public Safety Center of Excellence, opened in 2005, is located on the Merrill Campus. The facility allows NTC to provide the state-of-the-art training and continuing education required of the area’s 14,000 public safety professionals. The Public Safety Center of Excellence includes areas of expertise in criminal justice, fire, emergency medical services, traffic safety and emergency management. The Center allows learners to move from in-depth classroom discussions to virtual simulation experiences, thus experiencing critical events within a safe and managed environment. A state certified burn facility, splash tower and driving simulator are just a few of the learning tools accessible to learners.

Special Note

NTC's Public Safety Center of Excellence in Merrill experienced considerable damage from a tornado that hit the area on Sunday, April 10. To maintain services to our District and learners, we are working with community partners to seek opportunities to share resources in an effort to minimize interruptions and inconveniences to learning.
The Public Safety Center of Excellence will be fully operational by fall, including training offered in the splash and burn towers.
