The Congress-Bundestag
Youth Exchange Program began in 1983 as part of
the President's International Youth Exchange Initiative.
This program was established as a symbol of friendship
between USA and Germany in celebration of 300 years
of German immigration to the United States.
Through the program, the governments of the United States and the Federal
Republic of Germany have provided more than 13,000 young Germans and Americans
with an opportunity to make transatlantic friendships.
The Young Professionals Program, which has participants in technical, business,
agricultural and vocational fields, is part of the Congress-Bundestag Youth
Exchange Program. In an average year, approximately one hundred German participants
travel to the United States on the Young Professionals Program, and more
than fifty Americans go to Germany. Participants spend nearly a year in their
respective host countries, during which time they will live with a host family,
study and work.
NTC students interested in going to Germany are welcome
to stop by the International office in Room B101 on
the Wausau campus. To find out more about this exchange
program, download
