NTC’s Learning Centers will start you on your path to earning your General Education Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). Individual, self-paced, and small group instruction allows students to progress through the GED and HSED subjects. Faculty and staff will work with you to determine your strengths and areas for improvement as well as develop a personal education plan to fit your personal and academic goals. The GED requires a career assessment along with five tests:
- Social Studies
Students choosing to complete the HSED must fulfill the following (3) requirements after completing the GED:
- Employability Skills
- Civics knowledge
English Language Learning (ELL)
The ELL program is available for adults whose native language is not English. Classes are offered at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. ELL instructors and staff will help you set goals and choose classes to meet your needs.
ELL classes provide instruction in:
- Civics Literacy
- Computer Basics
Don’t know much about using the computer? The Learning Center offers individual and classroom based instruction in basic computer literacy. You can learn about the parts of a computer and the basics of creating, formatting and printing documents. You can also become familiar with the basics of using the Internet and email.
Basic Academic Skills
Learning Center instructors can help adults at the lowest levels of reading, writing and math all the way up to those learners who just need a little brush up on their skills for college entrance.
