How to Give

Traditions of Giving

Gifts made to the NTC Foundation will provide the resources needed to fulfill the College’s mission of access and opportunity for all students and will contribute to long-term community prosperity.

The NTC Foundation enables donors to fulfill their philanthropic intentions through a variety of giving options. Donors may designate how their gift will be used by selecting a program, project or special area to support. These restricted gifts are held in trust for the designated purposes. Donors may also choose to make unrestricted gifts, thereby providing support to the areas of greatest need. Many donors do both with multiple gifts. Gifts to the NTC Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Scholarships

Gifts can be designated for the Foundation General Scholarship fund or donors may wish to establish a named scholarship.

Annual Scholarships can be established at a minimum level of $500 and are awarded each year as long as the donor continues to fund the scholarship.

Endowed Scholarships are established as a permanent fund. Each year a portion of the fund’s earnings are paid out in scholarships. This is an excellent way to assure support of students for years to come. Scholarship endowments can be established with a minimum gift of $5,000.

Tributes and Memorials

Memorial or honorary gifts are a special way to recognize a loved one, mark a special occasion, or honor the memory of a family member or friend. Tribute and memorial contributions can be directed to support student needs or to establish scholarships.

Securities, Property and Equipment

Gifts of appreciated stocks can allow donors to make a significant contribution with little out-of-pocket expense. If stocks held for more than one year and appreciated in value are contributed, the donor may receive a federal income tax deduction for the fair market value of the security on the date it is transferred to the NTC Foundation.

Property including real estate may also receive similar tax considerations. The Foundation staff will work with the donor and their financial planner or legal advisor to design the gift that fulfills both the financial and philanthropic intentions of the donor.

Contributions of equipment and materials that enhance the educational process are accepted by the Foundation on behalf of the College. Donations can include new products, production equipment, office supplies, raw materials, vehicles and medical equipment. If accepted, appropriate documents are provided to the donor for tax purposes.

Planned and Deferred Gifts

Making a legacy or planned gift will benefit students and the College for years to come. Estate planning professionals and the Foundation staff will work with donors to find the most effective way to design a legacy gift. Planning a legacy gift can be accomplished in a number of ways including:

  • Wills
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Charitable Lead Trusts
  • Charitable and Deferred Gift Annuities
  • Gifts of Life Insurance

Legacy gifts are a reflection of the values important to donors and a means of continuing to foster those values in the future.
