Scholarships

NTC Foundation scholarships are available to all NTC students, but are particularly significant for returning adults who make up the majority of the student body at Northcentral Technical College. The average age of the NTC student is 32 and, unlike their recent high school graduate counterparts, do not have access to scholarships other than through the NTC Foundation. Scholarships provide students opportunity and access to their dream of a higher education.

Scholarships are awarded twice during the academic year and the majority of money allocated is applied towards tuition, books and other educational materials. Students complete a general application form that is considered for all scholarships. They do not apply for specific scholarships. Students who plan to attend NTC the next semester (i.e. applying for Fall 2008 scholarships because you will be attending Spring 2009 at NTC), and plan to take at least six credits are encouraged to apply.

In the 2007-2008 academic year, scholarships totaling more than $290,000 were awarded to more than 445 recipients.

Establish or contribute to an existing scholarship

Contributions in any amount can be made to the Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund or to any existing scholarship. Annual scholarships can be established with a minimum gift of $500. The donor determines the criteria to be used in selecting the recipient. Annual scholarships are awarded as long as continued funding is provided.

Endowed scholarships can be established with a minimum gift of $5,000 and assure on-going financial support for students. The principal of the endowment is invested to provide annual support and to build the principal value so the distribution stays constant over time. Endowed scholarships are funded each year at an amount based on 5% of the average market value of the endowment at the end of the previous 12 calendar quarters. Additional gifts can be made at any time to build an endowment.
