What is the NTC Pre-College Experience Program?
The Pre-College Experience Program encourages disadvantaged students to finish high school and prepare for post-secondary education. During July, students participate in a three-week program at NTC covering information about preparing for college. Students also learn about various businesses in the area, including their hiring practices and what jobs are available to students after they graduate from college.
This program also gives students an opportunity to improve their skills in Flash MX for Web Design, Writing for College Success, Web Design Applications, Police Science, Basic Electronics, English/Literature, Career Exploration, Allied Health, and Foreign Language.
Who is eligible for the program?
The Pre-College Experience Program participants range from 6th grade through 11th grade and are mostly minority or low-income students.
Funding for the program is provided by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) under the Pre-College Scholarship Program.
