GENERAL INFORMATION
Interlibrary loans (ILL) are processed through Wisconsin Valley Library Service (WVLS). We fill requests from other libraries and send our patron requests through WVLS.

WHO MAY USE INTERLIBRARY LOAN:
Students, faculty, and staff of the college are eligible to borrow through interlibrary loan.

FEES:
The borrower must agree to pay all fees associated with the loan. In most cases there is no charge unless the borrower damages, or does not return the item.

ILL REQUESTS:
Submit a printout of requested material or provide complete information, i.e., title, author, periodical issue, volume, page number, etc. Patron name and phone number need to be on request. Please indicate if there is a deadline. It usually takes from 7-14 days to get materials through interlibrary loan.

NOTIFICATION:
The patron will be notified when the ILL request arrives. It can be picked up at the Wausau campus circulation desk or mailed to the patron's home. It can also be sent to a regional campus for pickup.

LOAN PERIOD:
The loan period is determined by the library that owns the material. The owning library also determines any conditions that must be placed on the use of their materials. Limitations such as "No Renewals" or "In Library Use Only" must be honored. Renewals should be requested several days before the due date to allow time for a response from the library that owns the materials.

RETURNING MATERIALS:
All materials borrowed through ILL must be returned to the Wausau campus circulation desk. Photocopies are for the patron to keep.

COPYRIGHT LAW:
The NTC library adheres to the regulations of the ALA National Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States and the Copyright Act to comply with the law and to maintain good will with other libraries.

1. The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
2. Under certain conditions specified in the Law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a copy not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research."
3. If a user makes a request for, and later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
