Take A Single Class

Did you hear about a class being offered at NTC? If you want to take a class or two and do not wish to receive a degree or utilize financial aid, no application is necessary. Simply review the registration requirements, search for a class, and sign up to get started.

Registration Requirements

In order to register for a single class, four bits of class information are needed:

  • name of class
  • 5-digit class number (this differs from 8-digit course numbers)
  • type of class (continuing education or post-secondary)
  • semester class is offered

If you have all four of those things, then continue on to the Register for a Single Class section. If you are missing any of the items, please continue to the Searching for Class Information section and the follow the instructions to find them.

Searching for Class Information

To find all the information required to register for a single class, you only need to know one thing about the class. Please select which piece of information you know to continue to the outlined three step class search process.

I know the class number
  1. Open the Search Tool

    First, open the class search tool. It may be helpful to do this in a new window or tab so you can easily refer back to these instructions.

  2. Click the green triangle next to Additional Search Criteria, and enter the class number in the Class Nbr field. Then click Search.

  3. Locate Class Information

    Once you have performed the class search, you will see a listing of results that match your criteria. To find all required details about the class you wish to register for, first click the class number link listed under the Class heading within the appropriate class result item.

    You will now be on the class detail page. Here you will find all of the information required for class registration. Make note of the class name, class number, class type (listed as “Career”), and semester offered.

    Now that you have the necessary class information, you are ready to register for your class.

I know the class name

  2. Enter the class name in the Course Keyword field and click Search.

  3. Locate Class Information

    Once you have performed the class search, you will see a listing of results that match your criteria. To find all required details about the class you wish to register for, first click the class number link listed under the Class heading within the appropriate class result item.

    You will now be on the class detail page. Here you will find all of the information required for class registration. Make note of the class name, class number, and class type (listed as “Career”).

    Now that you have the necessary class information, you are ready to register for your class.

I know the class subject
  1. Open the Search Tool

  2. Select the appropriate subject from the Subject drop-down field and then click Search.

  3. Locate Class Information

    Once you have performed the class search, you will see a listing of results that match your criteria. To find all required details about the class you wish to register for, first click the class number link listed under the Class heading within the appropriate class result item.

    You will now be on the class detail page. Here you will find all of the information required for class registration. Make note of the class name, class number, and class type (listed as “Career”).

    Now that you have the necessary class information, you are ready to register for your class.

Register for a Single Class

The registration method differs depending on which type of class you are taking. Please select your class type to see registration instructions:

Continuing Education

Continuing Education courses are non-program courses or courses that cannot be applied towards a degree or diploma. These courses focus on a specific occupational skill or provide self-enrichment.

Continuing Education Registration Instructions
  1. Open the Continuing Education Registration Site

    To begin the registration process, first open the Continuing Education Registration website.

  2. Locate Desired Class

    In order to find the class you wish to register for, type the class number in the Class # field and click search.

  3. Add Class to Cart

    Next, add the desired class to your cart, using the Add to Cart button.

  4. Enter Start Date

    If prompted, enter your desired start date.

  5. Begin Checkout

    Click the Checkout button in the Shopping Cart section, then click Proceed to Checkout on the next page to begin the checkout process.

  6. Log in or Create an Account

    If you have taken a continuing education class with us in the past, log in to your account. If this is your first time taking a continuing education class with us, you must first create an account.

    If you are registering on behalf of a business, please instead fill out the business registration form.

  7. Proceed Through the Checkout Process

    You will then be able to proceed through the rest of the checkout process, just as you would with other online shopping experiences.

Post-Secondary

Post-secondary courses are courses taken that award credit and that can be applied towards a degree, diploma or certificate.

Post-Secondary Registration Instructions
  1. Open myNTC

    Post-Secondary class registration happens within the myNTC system. If you already have an account, please log in and skip to step 5. If you don’t yet have an account, continue on to create an account.

  2. Create Your Student Account

    To create your student account, first select New Student? Start here. under the Students tab.

    Fill out the registration form (2 pages) to complete your registration.

  3. Receive Account Credentials

    Upon completion of the registration form, you will be directed to a page that says, “You have successfully created your new Student Account.” Here, you will receive the User ID and Password you will use to log in to myNTC.

  4. Log In to myNTC

    You can now log in to your myNTC account with your newly acquired credentials (9 digit student ID as User ID; first two letters of your first name, followed by first two letters of your last name, followed by last four digits of your SSN as the password — format of abcd0123).

  5. Begin Class Enrollment

    First, select the Enroll Online tab, then click Enroll in a Class.

  6. Select Desired Term

    Then, select the term of the class you wish to sign up for. Also, please make sure to select the term with the Post Secondary class type (listed as “Career”). Then, click Next.

  7. Add Class to Cart

    Enter the 5-digit class number you took note of in the Enter Class Nbr field and click Enter to begin adding the class to your cart.

    Verify that you have selected the proper class, then click Next to add it to your cart.

  8. Add More Classes, if Desired

    If you wish to add more classes at this time, you can (the same way you added the inital class). If you do not wish to add any more classes, click Proceed to Step 2 of 3.

  9. Finish Enrolling

    You now have one final chance to confirm your class selection(s). If everything looks correct, click Finish Enrolling to complete the class registration process.
