Building Safer Communities One Mile At A Time
NTC’s Driver Training Simulator Mobile Classroom provides state-of-the-art training for emergency vehicle operators, as well as municipal and commercial vehicle drivers within the NTC District and throughout Wisconsin. The simulator allows learners to bridge the gap between classroom discussion and live vehicle operations by mimicking real-life situations without the inherent risks of actual unsafe terrain and severe weather conditions.
The mobile classroom is housed in a 32-foot trailer. There are two training stations; a single-seat simulator, and a dual-seat simulator. The single-seat simulator replicates police vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, dump trucks as well as other types of vehicles. The dual-seat simulator closely resembles a fire truck apparatus, but can also be used for replicating other vehicles.
NTC’s simulator provides the capability of utilizing two different training situations at the same time, and/or linking the two simulators together to provide real-time multi-vehicle training. It is the only mobile simulator in the State of Wisconsin able to link a law enforcement simulator to a fire or emergency medical services (EMS) vehicle.
NTC provides continuing education to public safety professionals throughout its 10-County district on a rotating basis. The Driver Training Simulator Mobile Classroom is available for 24-hours a day, seven days a week at any location.
Students first complete an orientation session and then are scheduled for a specific training activity. Each training event will include multiple students who are learning the same competencies through multiple repetitions of the same driving activity.
NTC’s Driver Training Simulator has standard car, truck, snow plow and waste pick-up equipment so classes can be targeted to the specific needs and unique responsibilities associated with each type of vehicle.
