Because NTC is a public facility, the public has free access during campus operating hours. Operating hours are:
- Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
- Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Closed Sunday
Students will not be allowed in NTC facilities after the campuses are closed. On occasion, NTC will run late night classes. Students attending late night classes will be restricted to the areas of the class.
Under normal circumstances, hallways and parking lots are lit for safety. In addition, maintenance and/or security personnel make regular rounds around the building. At the UW‑Marathon dormitory, shared jointly with NTC, outside doors are locked between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and are accessible only to residents using their room keys. Guests accompanied by residents must sign in during restricted hours. Two resident assistants make rounds at night. The dormitory has a residence hall manager who can be contacted in any emergency at 715.261.6136.
