Grants at North Central Technical College are a need-based form of financial aid. Grants do not have to be paid back. Students must apply for grant funding each year with theFree Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
North Central Technical College participates in the following grant programs:
Federal Grants
Pell Grant
A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Generally, Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree. (A professional degree is usually earned after earning a bachelor's
degree in a field such as medicine, law, or dentistry.)
The amount of the Pell grant you receive is determined by your own and your family's financial resources. For many students, Pell Grants provide a foundation of financial aid to which other aid may be added. For more information on the Federal Pell Grant see The Federal Student Guide.
If you are eligible for a Pell Grant, the amount of the Pell Grant listed on your award letter is based on the number of credits on your schedule. If your schedule is modified, the amount of the Pell Grant may change.
Dropping courses may decrease eligibility resulting in a required repayment of Pell Grant funds. Adding courses may increase eligibility. Check with the Financial Aid Office if you add or drop credits to be sure you understand how a change in credits will affect your Pell Grant and other aid.
Pell enrollment status is as follows:
| 1 - 5 credits........................................... |
Less than half-time |
| 6 - 8 credits .......................................... |
Half-time |
| 9 - 11 credits......................................... |
Three-quarter time |
| 12 or more credits................................. |
Full-time |
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need - that is, students with the lowest Expected Family Contributions (EFCs) - and gives priority to students who receive Federal Pell Grants. An FSEOG doesn't have to be paid back. For more information about the FSEOG see The Federal Student Guide.
