Amy Jacob-Quality Control

AmyQuality Control
As a dislocated worker, Amy’s story is similar to many in today’s workforce. After attending a seminar that discussed many career options, the Medical Transcription Technical Diploma program at NTC seemed to be the right fit for her future.

Amy graduated from NTC in 2005 and has been working in the medical transcription field for 4 ½ years. “I enjoyed working in a professional environment, where I could attend meetings regularly and could talk directly to staff,” Amy describes of her first experience working in the medical transcription field.

“Most employers require at least two years of office experience before medical transcriptionists can work from home,” Amy explains. She has worked her way up to Quality Control, is in charge of new employee training, assisting other
co-workers in improving their skills and is now able to work from home.

Anyone entering this field needs to be prepared to do a lot of studying and focus on medical terminology. The medical transcription profession was an opportunity for Amy to turn her skills in typing, formatting documents, grammar, listening, spelling and research into a career.
