Description
Diagnose engine ignition systems, computer control systems and engine sensors. This course will carry the learner beyond basic tune-ups into the world of computer controlled systems. Learners will study the engine sensors that feed data to an on-board computers. They will learn how the computer processes and then uses data to make a host of real time decisions concerning ignition and emission controls. Learners will get hands on training on late model cars to reinforce classroom theory. The use of DVOMs, scan tools, oscilloscopes, pressure transducers, and computer self-diagnostics will be covered.
Prerequisites: 10-602-128 ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS 3 and 10-602-103 ENGINE REPAIR 1.
