Description

This day long workshop will integrate the neurobiology of trauma with the dynamic of domestic violence to give participants a better understanding of the victim/survivor experience. Dr. Wilson will use his experience working with both perpetrators and victims to integrate the science in a way that will deepen participants’ ability to make sense of victim/survivor reaction and behavior, using case examples, video, and audio. The training will cover the impact attachment circuitry, defense circuitry and networks, and meaning-making have on victims/survivors, as well as the impact trauma can have on memory. Dr. Wilson will also discuss what it means to be trauma informed in working with victim/survivors and introduce participants to the Certified Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview, a neuroscience based interviewing methodology.
