Description

Introduces the devices and technologies that make up a modern information system including endpoint devices, servers, routers, switches and access points. Learners build a virtual small business network and gain experience utilizing virtual machines. This includes installing and configuring desktop operating systems for file and print sharing, and a wireless router for secure wireless access and common network services like DNS and DHCP. This course prepares learners for success in the IT-Network Specialist program.

Condition: Accepted into the Business Mangt AD, an IT AD, TD or Certificate, or with Dean or Associate Dean approval.

This class requires hands on lab work that must be performed in the Network Specialist lab at the Wausau Campus. Live lectures may be available during class time via the college's web conferencing tool if students are unable to attend the lecture component in person.
