Description
Requires medical assistant students to integrate and apply knowledge and skills from all previous medical assistant courses in actual ambulatory health care settings. Learners perform medical assistant administrative, clinical, and laboratory duties under the supervision of trained mentors to effectively transition to the role of a medical assistant. This is a supervised, unpaid, clinical experience.
Prerequisites: 31-509-301 or 50-509-301 MA ADMIN PROCEDURES, 31-509-302 HUMAN BODY IN HEALTH & DISEASE, 31-509-304 or 50-509-304 MEDICAL ASSISTANT CLIN PROCEDURES 1, 10-501-101 MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY, 10-501-104 CULTURE OF HEALTHCARE or 10-801-195 WRITTEN COMMUNICATION. Pre/Corequisites:10-501-308 or 31-501-308 PHARMACOLOGY FOR ALLIED HEALTH , 31-509-307 or 50-509-307 MED OFFICE INSURANCE & FINANCE, 31-509-306 or 50-509-306 MEDICAL ASST CLIN PROCEDURES 2, 31-509-309 or 50-509-309 MEDICAL LAW, ETHICS & PROFESS, 31-509-305 or 50-509-305 MEDICAL ASST LAB PROCEDURES 2. Conditions: Accepted into the Medical Assistant Technical Diploma or Medical Assistant Apprenticeship, and enrollment in or completion of a computer course (Digital Literacy for Healthcare meets the computer course requirement), and all program health requirements are met along with compliance with Wisconsin Caregiver Law.
