Join Laurie and Mike from Hamburg Honey in this three part workshop to explore beginning the journey of beekeeping. These workshops will be held at the NTC Agriculture Center on County Rd K. Mike and Laurie Lawrence have been keeping bees since 2014, growing their apiary every year and are members of the Wisconsin queen breeders association, the Wisconsin honey producers association and the Marathon County Beekeepers Association. They have earned their Master Beekeeping Education through the University of Montana. They have been successful with overwintering bees with a 70 percent survival rate five years in a row.

- Biology and lifecycle of a bee
- Beekeeping equipment
- Beehive placement and protecting a hive from predators
- How to install a package of bees and a nucleus colony
- How and when to feed a hive
- Basic treatments for disease and pests
Optional Field Day (Saturday, May 3rd) at the Hamburg Honey apiary will discuss how to find eggs and a queen and how to do hive inspections. All attendees will have a chance to win a NUC! A bee suit will be required for the field day.
