Join us for an excursion into the mysterious world of mushrooms. Our tour guide, Jerome Segura PhD, will instruct us on creating our own mushroom spore block, using waste material from sawmills.

We will discuss a large variety of mushrooms that changes with the seasons. Including:

  • Oyster mushrooms
  • Speckled Chestnut
  • Lions Mane

Cost: $35

And you will take home two fungi spore blocks growing oyster mushrooms!

Meet the Instructor

Jerome Segura PhD.

Jerome has transitioned from academia – professor at UWSP – to grower of mushrooms. He will instruct us on the amazing abilities of fungi as primarily trash monsters, thriving on waste and decay, even capable of happily digesting toxins and blooming into benign fruit. He will also discuss scientific findings that fungi so thoroughly infiltrate the roots of most every plant in the wild that they are inextricable from the plants themselves.
