AOD Partnership: Addictions Impact on Children – From Cradle to CollegeJune 6, 2017 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Northcentral Technical College - Main Building Rooms E101/E102
Addiction impacts individuals of every age, but those that are perhaps the most vulnerable are children. Rising rates of drug and alcohol impacted children, kids exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs - including parental addiction) and the systems put in place to protect children continue throughout the school years are all on the rise.
Local experts on prenatal and postnatal health and ACEs - along with representatives from schools, Marathon County DEC (drug endangered children) task force, and the foster care program - will present on the impact of addiction on children and what is being done locally to reduce the burden.
Attendees will learn:
- How addiction in the home affects children in utero through childhood
- Impact of ACEs in childhood on health and brain development
- Local services and resources to support healthy youth
