Meet our speaker:

Linda DeMoe
 
Linda DeMoe had been an Early Childhood Education instructor at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin since 1985 and recently retired. She has been speaking professionally since 1988. As a mother of two, grandmother of three and a retired teacher, Linda has tried to prioritize her life in one simple plan: faith, family and career... always in that order.
 
A graduate of UW-Stout, Linda has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. Linda has received the Chippewa Valley Technical College Teacher of the Year Award, the Wisconsin Vocational Association Teacher of the Year Award and the American Vocational Association Teacher of the Year-Region III Award. Conference Agenda and Descriptions:

The one thing we all strive for daily is… happiness.  What we may not realize is that maybe we need to stop the pursuit of happiness and just be happy.  Harmony and contentment could be much closer than you realize.
 
This presentation will give you the opportunity to laugh, to cry and to find some peace within your daily life.  Listen to the many ways to build self-esteem in yourself as well as those around you.  Bring an open mind and an open heart and prepare to be transformed!

With the attitude that “everyone matters”, I invite you to attend this presentation and reflect upon what is important in your life.  Life is never easy, but it is rarely impossible.

We all know that there are very few things in our lives that we would classify as priceless, precious and irreplaceable.  For most of us, our children are the one thing that does however.  So we must ask ourselves….And how are the children?
  • Session B: Art from the Heart – Childcaring, Mary Olson
This training will walk providers through strategies on how you can support children’s experiences with art. Art will be explored through hands on activities.
  • Session C: Discovering Science – Supporting Families Together Association (SFTA), Kathy Kadar
The training will walk providers through strategies on how adults can support children’s experiences with science. Science will be explored through hands on activities.
  • Session D: Discovering Science presented for Hmong-speaking providers – Childcaring, Kao L. Xiong
The training will walk providers through strategies on how adults can support children’s experiences with science. Science will be explored through hands on activities.
 
  • 12:30 p.m. – Lunch
  • 1:30 p.m. - “Technology and Children: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” – Linda Demoe
Let's take a look at all of the issues relating to current technology and our children.  We will look into the positive and negative effects that a variety of technology effects children, parents, and families in general.  It's not all bad and it clearly is not all good.  A nonbiased evaluation will be discussed and participants will have an opportunity to express their opinion and look into our own "use" of phones, tablets, laptops.
