Impact of Marijuana Legalization in Colorado & Youth Engagement in Prevention

Marshfield Clinic, Northwoods Coalition and the Alliance for Wisconsin Youth in partnership with Northcentral Technical College are pleased to offer a training presented by Sergeant Jim Gerhardt of the Thornton Police Department and North Metro Drug Task Force in Colorado.
 
Impact of Marijuana Legalization in Colorado 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Participants will hear a brief history of Colorado’s marijuana legalization movement, the impact of marijuana legalization on public safety and how it could potentially relate to Wisconsin’s future. Examine the national strategy by pro-marijuana proponents including Wisconsin.
 
Lunch (provided) 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
 
Youth Engagement in Prevention 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
High school students in Adams County, Colorado compete each year to create and launch an anti-drug campaign aimed at youth. Learn the origins of this exciting project that can be replicated in any community at no cost and see examples of student led projects and videos.
 
This training is limited to the first 200 participants and is designed for prevention, treatment, healthcare, human services, law enforcement professionals AND MORE! Registration, lunch, Certificate of Attendance and 4 CEUs are provided for all attendees no cost. Participants are responsible for any lodging needs.
