K-12 Summer Technology Workshop | Northcentral Technical College

K-12 Summer Technology Workshop

Monday, August 3, 2015 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. NTC Wausau Campus
This workshop provides an opportunity for K-12 professionals to learn new and innovative ways to use technology in their classrooms. Through the use of large group sessions, small breakout sessions and facilitated group time, learners will explore cutting edge classroom and presentation tools, ways to integrate mobile technology into the classroom, how to engage students beyond the classroom and new Web 2.0 tools. Attendees will have the opportunity
to get hands-on experience with these tools at the event.
Emmett McBride, Director of Technology at D.C. Everest Area School District, has been tinkering with computers since his family first bought a Commodore 64. Coming from a family of educators, Emmett grew up visiting his parents’ classrooms and in particular, his father’s tech class. It was there that he realized technology was underutilized in education and that the needs of neither the teachers nor the students were being met. Wanting to make a difference in education and seeing the potential technology carries, Emmett embarked on what has been a rewarding career. Emmett works with educational leaders, teachers, and students K-12 and beyond to help them integrate technology successfully in the classroom.

We will host breakout sessions on the following topics:
• Changing Education Through Digital Content Creation
• Computer Coding for Everyone!
• Collaboration and Communication in the 21st Century
We will also have open lab and team time for participants to discuss what they have learned and get hands-on experience. Our panel of experts will host a session all together during the afternoon to answer any lingering questions attendees may have.
