The Wisconsin Initiative to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (WIPHL) is pleased to offer a four-hour training on SBIRT - alcohol and drug Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment.  SBIRT is an evidence-based, cost-saving approach that a variety of professionals can use to help the people they serve reduce their drinking, drug use and related health and social consequences.
 
Who should attend?  All health, mental health and social services professionals, paraprofessionals, students, trainees and administrators from Wisconsin and neighboring states are welcome.  No prior training, experience, licensure or certification is necessary.
 
Cost: Provided free of charge to all participants 
 
Learning Objectives:
  • Why and how to deliver SBIRT:  The training will include an emphasis on Motivational Interviewing, which is effective in promoting a variety of healthier behaviors.  Trainees will receive copies of training materials.
  • Certain trainees will be qualified to bill Wisconsin Medicaid for SBIRT. 
  • SAMHSA requires that trainees complete two brief evaluation forms – one in writing at the conclusion of the training, and another by email one month later.  WIPHL will email training completion certificates after both evaluation forms are completed.
