Early Childhood

NTC offers a full lineup of professional early childhood education options. Whether you are looking to open your own certified child care center or in need of CEUs for your license, we offer a variety of classes to meet your needs.

Becoming a Licensed Child Care Provider

Certified Child Care

  • Type of Operation: Three or fewer children under age 7
  • Certification: Certified through the county
  • Training Requirement: Fundamentals course + Intro to Childcare Profession
  • Continuing Education Requirement: Yes, determined by the county certifier. The Child Abuse and Neglect training is required each year.

Licensed Family Child Care

  • Type of Operation: Up to 8 children under age 7
  • Certification: Licensed through the state
  • Training Requirement: Fundamentals course and Introduction to the Childcare Profession. Also requires an additional 10 hours of infant and toddler training if working with those ages.
  • Continuing Education Requirement: 15 hours of continuing education each year. The Child Abuse and Neglect training is required each year as part of the 15 hours.

Licensed Group Child Care

  • Type of Operation: 9 or more children under age 7
  • Certification: Licensed through the state
  • Training Requirement: Fundamentals course and Introduction to the Childcare Profession. Also requires an additional 10 hours of infant and toddler and school age training if working with those ages.
  • Continuing Education Requirement: 25 hours of continuing education each year. The Child Abuse and Neglect training is required each year as part of the 25 hours.
  • Non-credit courses required for Child Care Centers
