February 17, 2017 (All day)
(WAUSAU, Wis.) – As part of an Active Aging initiative in central Wisconsin, Northcentral Technical College (NTC) will deliver a training program to individuals 50 years of age and older that will teach them the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a long-term care facility in central Wisconsin.

Training will be provided at no cost to qualifying students in this program, which begins on March 29, 2017. The class consists of both an online component and in-person meeting dates at NTC’s Geriatric Center for Education in Wausau.

The Senior CNA Academy prepares individuals to provide compassionate quality care for friends, family or residents in a long-term care setting. Those completing the program have the potential to obtain full-time, part-time or casual employment as a CNA, with shorter shifts or flexible scheduling options available at some facilities.
“Many seniors are looking for ways to give back to the community, or have had experience caring for a loved one, and would like to provide care to those in need during their retirement years,” said Lorraine Zoromski, NTC Dean of Health Sciences. “This is one way those individuals can give back to their communities while earning income, as well as provide compassionate quality care to others.”

Individuals hoping to participate in this training program need to submit an application to NTC, sit for a brief interview and submit a background information disclosure and other necessary health records.

For more information, contact Lorraine Zoromski at 715.803.1356 or zoromski@ntc.edu or Weng Liew at 715.803.1377 or liew@ntc.edu.
