The Pharmacy Services Management Associate Degree program prepares individuals to advance their role as a pharmacy technician or to transition to related roles in the workplace. The Pharmacy Technician is a professional who works in a healthcare setting who performs pharmacy-related functions, generally working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This degree will expand the pharmacy technician role through additional knowledge about third-party payment processing and related reimbursement issues, staff scheduling processes, customer service and enhancing store sales. Marketing, management and business operations are also introduced in this degree. The program cumulates in a capstone course that provides the student with the opportunity to apply their education to a real-life situation through increasing store sales, creating efficient operations, improving management practices, or enhancing services to patients. Potential occupations include: Senior Pharmacy Technician, Assistant Store Manager, Trainer, Pharmacy Technician Manager and many related positions in hospitals, retail pharmacies or related organizations.

CPR Requirement

Current CPR certification is required prior to clinical placement. Accepted certifications include Professional Rescuer & Healthcare Provider (ARC) or Healthcare Provider (AHA).

Criminal Background Check

This program requires a criminal background check. Acceptance to Northcentral Technical College will not be denied based on a criminal background, however, a check may be required for placement at clinical sites or field experiences.
