Introduces students to the legal principles governing land ownership, property boundaries, and boundary determination as they relate to the surveying profession. Students examine the hierarchy of boundary evidence, legal descriptions, deeds, easements, rights-of-way, riparian rights, adverse possession, and other fundamental concepts of property law. The course explores the surveyor's role in interpreting legal documents, resolving boundary issues, and applying statutory and common law principles in accordance with professional and ethical standards. Students develop an understanding of how boundary law supports accurate land surveying, civil engineering, and land development projects.
