Fire Extinguisher Safety

OSHA requires employers who provide fire extinguishers in the workplace that are available for employees use to also provide an educational program for affected workers that cover the principles of fire extinguisher use as well as the hazards of early stage fire-fighting.

Forklift Safety Training

The hazards commonly associated with powered industrial trucks vary depending on the vehicle type and the workplace where the truck is used. The best way to protect employees from injury is to know the different types of truck operated and understanding the workplace. This training will address: Types and Fundamentals, Operating the Forklift, Understanding the Workplace and Training Assistance.

HAZCOM Training

This course is designed to ensure that information about chemical hazards and associated protective measures is disseminated by requiring chemical manufacturers to evaluate the hazards of the chemicals they produce, provide information about them through labels and material safety data sheets. Employers with hazardous chemicals in their workplaces must prepare and implement a written hazard communication program and ensure that all containers are labeled, provide access to MSDSs, and an effective training program for all potentially exposed employees.

Budgets and Financial Reports

Every day, businesses deal with budgets and financial reports in some form or fashion. At minimum, business managers review budget numbers and run financial reports for decision-making and reporting to shareholders and Federal regulators once a month. The goal of this workshop is to give the participant a basic understanding of budgets and financial reports so they can hold relevant discussions and render decisions based on financial data.

Plan for the Unexpected: Continuity and Succession Planning

There are many reasons to implement a sound business succession plan.  Attorney Alan L. Hougum will highlight the important steps for creating and implementing a plan. Topics of this presentation will include determining your business's value, developing a business plan, picking a successor, asset protection, transition of interest at retirement and preparation for a timely settlement of a deceased owner's estate. The process of creating a proactive plan to aid in a smooth transition will also be discussed. 

School of Applied Technology & Engineering Internship, Job and Transfer Fair

Fully Involved

Fully Involved is geared toward fire professionals who wish to expand their abilities in leadership. This presentation is for anyone who wishes to lead at any level, from firefighter to chief officer. Throughout the presentation, Mark VonAppen takes participants through the leadership principles as outlined in the Fully Involved standard of performance: • Do your job • Treat people right • Give all out effort • Have an all-in attitude Participants of Fully Involved will have the opportunity to share and exchange leadership styles as well as learn about the Fully Involved 10/10 leadership pact.

Heroin on Steroids: Impact of Fentanyl, W-18 and U-47700

This one day course was designed to educate about the exploding trend of synthetic opioids. In many jurisdictions around the country already affected by illicit Fentanyl, W-18/carfentanil, and U-47700 this course has become mandatory. If your agency has not encountered these substances yet, you will! The course covers what these dangerous substances are, what they look like, where they come from and how to protect yourself from potentially deadly contact. The instructor will provide information on how to initiate and safely investigate cases involving these substances that are up to 1000 times more potent than other narcotics on the street.

Training Within Industry (TWI)

Training Within Industry (TWI) consists of standardized classes addressing the essential skills needed by supervisors, team leaders and anyone leading others. The progrma is composed of Job Instruction, Job Relations and Job Methods, three 'primary' classes. Northcentral Technical College (NTC) is proud to offer the first class, Job Instruction (JI), in Fall 2017. JI teaches employees to quickly learn how to do a job correctly, safely and conscientiously.

Recovery Coaching - Support from Addiction in the Community

Local experts will present on the topic of Recovery Coaching at Northcentral Technical College on October 3. At this event, put on by the AOD Partnership, attendees will learn what a Recovery Coach is, the multiple pathways to long term recovery, and discuss steps to implement recovery coaching into your organization. 

Team Building and Problem Solving

In Team Building and Problem Solving, learners will develop skills and apply the tools necessary to define and solve problems in an organizational setting. Additionally, learners will acquire the skills needed to accomplish individual, team, department and organizational goals. Each learner will experience the benefits and challenges of working in teams, identify and facilitate the necessary roles in a team, navigate the stages of team development, employ various approaches to creative/critical thinking and problem solving, and find ways to influence consensus and commitment.

During the Heavy Metal Tour, 8th grade students throughout north central Wisconsin will have the chance to tour area manufacturers, learn about job opportunities and advancements in technology and how NTC can help prepare them for an exciting career.
