Hand‑Knitting for Beginners: Make Your First Lap Blanket
Saturday, April 11, 2026 9:00am - 11:00am
A warm, welcoming class for absolute first‑timers!
In this hands‑on workshop, you’ll learn how to create a soft, beautiful lap blanket using nothing but your hands and chunky yarn. No needles, no prior experience — just simple, soothing movements that are easy to learn and fun to master.
We’ll start with the basics: how to form your first stitches, how to keep your loops even, and how to build your blanket row by row. You’ll get plenty of demonstrations and personal guidance as you work, making this a perfect introduction for anyone who’s ever wanted to try knitting but felt intimidated by traditional tools.
By the end of class, you’ll understand the core techniques of hand knitting and have a finished (or nearly finished) blanket that’s as cozy as it is handmade.

Meet the Instructor:
Becca is a Stevens Point native whose creative roots run deep in central Wisconsin. Over the past 30 years, she and her family have lived across the state — six years in Milwaukee, five in Weston, fifteen in Antigo — before happily returning home to Point, where her love of community and handmade craft continues to grow.
She is the owner of One 10 Graphics LLC, a modern, emotionally attuned graphic design studio specializing in clean, thoughtful design for clients across a wide range of industries. Her work blends clarity, warmth, and storytelling — the same qualities she brings to her creative classes.
Becca and her husband met as students at UW–Stevens Point, where they both graduated and began building the life they share today. They now enjoy an empty nest, with their two adult daughters off pursuing their own adventures — one recently earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UWSP, and the other living in their old stomping grounds of Shorewood, Wisconsin.
Whether she’s designing for clients or teaching blanket lovers how to make something cozy with their own hands, Becca loves helping people discover confidence and joy in the creative process.
