Introduces students to the principles and practices of researching, interpreting, and applying land records used in surveying and land boundary determination. Students examine deeds, plats, easements, right-of-way documents, legal descriptions, subdivision maps, title records, and other public land records. The course emphasizes the relationship between historical and current records, property ownership, and boundary evidence while developing the skills necessary to locate, analyze, and document land record information. Students gain an understanding of the role land records play in surveying, civil engineering, and land development projects.
