Examines how purchasing fits into the overall structure of an organization and its importance in maintaining supply chain efficiency. Learners evaluate how the purchasing function focuses on driving value through continuous improvements as part of an organization’s strategic objectives. Various cost and price analysis tools will be examined. Learners identify techniques purchasing professionals utilize to effectively manage inventory, work with vendors and evaluate the quality of goods. Additionally, learners will develop a thorough understanding of the supplier/buyer relationship and the benefits of high-quality supplier management systems.
