Whether you prefer the structure of in-person classes or the flexibility of learning fully online, NTC has options to fit your needs.

In Person

  • Where: Classes take place in person at one of NTC’s physical campus locations.
  • When: Times are set by the instructor and meet regularly each week.

Online (Virtual College)

  • Where: Complete from anywhere.
  • When: On your timeline.

As NTC’s most flexible option, Virtual College gives students the opportunity to begin classes and set due dates throughout the semester. Classes are taught by the same instructors who teach face-to-face courses, and provide quality learning experiences directed by faculty, with a schedule directed by the student.

Please note that Virtual College online classes will have “Virtual College” listed as the campus.

Online

  • Where: Complete from anywhere.

Standard online classes give students the flexibility to complete their coursework online with the added structure of set due dates.

Please note that traditional online classes will have “Wausau” listed as the campus.

Computer Conferencing (Zoom)

  • Where: Complete from anywhere.
  • When: Times are set by the instructor and meet regularly each week.

Instructors teach in real-time and students participate in class discussions and work on projects with their peers via the web conferencing tool, Zoom. This type of environment is ideal for students who cannot be physically on campus, but prefer the community and structure of set learning times.

NTC Connect

  • Where: In person on campus, Zoom or online.
  • When: Times are set by the instructor and meet regularly each week.

Students have the flexibility to select how they attend their scheduled class sessions (In Person, Zoom or Online) on a day to day or week by week basis.

Blended

Students must attend some class sessions during set days and times at a physical campus and/or via computer conferencing, while other class content can be completed online (less than 50% of the instruction) at each student’s pace.

Hybrid

Students must attend some class sessions during set days and times at a physical campus and/or via computer conferencing, while other class content can be completed online (50% or more of the instruction) at each student’s pace.

Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC)

  • Where: Classes take place online via interactive video conferencing from one of NTC’s physical campus locations.
  • When: Times are set by the instructor and meet regularly each week.

Instructors teach in real-time via interactive video. Students participate from one of NTC’s campus sites and interact with the instructor and each other using two-way video and audio conferencing.

Self-Paced

Coursework is completed in an open-lab setting or where appropriate software is available. An instructor is available at each campus lab at specific times to assist with questions/tests. Courses can be started anytime during the first 10 weeks of a typical semester.
