Prepares hands-on caregivers to function professionally in the hospital or clinic environment. The learner will participate in and evaluate health care experiences from the perspective of the patient. It will help healthcare providers to remember there is a person behind the disease. Understanding the experience of illness and disease from the patient's perspective can help caregivers provide reassurance, communicate caring and foster healing of body and mind. Patients who feel listened to and cared for are much more likely to be satisfied customers and return to the agency for their future health care needs.
