Expands on the principles of basic electricity and application. Wiring diagram interpretation and utilization are introduced and practiced. Learners will also begin to apply their knowledge on the battery and starting systems.
Investigates installation and maintenance of gas appliances. Covers reading wiring diagrams, component functions and operation, different ignition types, equipment testing, troubleshooting, proper venting codes, and industry safe practices. Covers leak detection for both gas and carbon monoxide, and make safe procedures.
This advanced clinical course requires the student to integrate concepts from all previous courses in the management of groups of clients facing complex health alterations. Students will have the opportunity to further develop critical thinking skills using the nursing process in making clinical decisions. Continuity of care through interdisciplinary collaboration is emphasized.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a nursing assistant or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
This clinical experience applies nursing concepts and therapeutic interventions to patients across the lifespan. It also provides an introduction to concepts of teaching and learning. Extending care to include the family is emphasized.
Explores the scope of the horticulture sector, including career opportunities. Familiarizes learners with the Agriculture Center of Excellence and standard operating procedures. Learners will begin to develop a strategic college plan. Learners will be exposed to the various opportunities available throughout their program of study.
Explore husbandry and care of exotic pets, pocket pets, birds and animals used for research. Topics covered include housing requirements, sanitation, nutrition, radiology, restraint and handling. Learners will practice hands on skills including administering medications, diagnostic sampling techniques and physical examinations of rats, mice, birds, rabbits, and other small mammals. This course may also work with reptiles. This course is only offered in fall semester.
Demonstrate basic laboratory procedures including: storage, cleaning and the principles of microscopy. Learners will study parasites of common domestic species, including prevention, lifecycle, treatment, and impact on animal health. Labs will concentrate on diagnostic parasitology.
Exposes students to various technologies used throughout agriculture. Areas of technology include precision farming, agriculture software packages, modern agriculture renewable energy technologies and equipment. Based on new technologies and equipment available for use, the technology area focused on may change slightly from year-to-year. Learners will interpret maps, generate operational plans and perform financial analyses based on agronomy data.
Introduces professional characteristics and qualities expected of an agriculture sales professional. Learners will develop a complete marketing plan including a market analysis. Further, learners will develop a sales proposal and create news articles, advertisements and merchandizing displays.
Builds on the content in Greenhouse Operation and Design by providing the learners additional hands-on experience managing a greenhouse structure on a year-round basis. Greenhouse coverings, environmental controls, and monitoring equipment will be covered throughout this course. Learners will actively participate in the operation of a greenhouse and hoop house as they determine methods of monitoring temperature, ventilation, and plant growth.
Participate in surgical procedures including dog and cat sterilization surgeries. Other surgical procedures may occasionally be performed as needed. Learners will participate as anesthetists, sterile surgical assistants, and non-sterile assistants throughout the course.
Expands on engine component function and understanding through cylinder head disassembly and evaluation. Engine clean care, proper tune-up procedures and application of service tools is also emphasized.
Emphasizes schematic interpretation with applications towards diagnosis and repair. In depth lighting, gauge, battery, starting and charging systems and their diagnostic strategies will be examined. Through a lab setting, learners will implement meter usage and electrical testing.
This intermediate level clinical course develops the RN role when working with clients with complex health care needs. A focus of the course is developing skills needed for managing multiple clients across the lifespan and priorities. Using the nursing process, students will gain experience in adapting nursing practice to meet the needs of clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.
Introduces learners to primary overhead work. Learners will continue to practice advanced pole climbing techniques, and operate utility trucks and equipment.
Focuses on the various components that comprise the heavy duty drive train of heavy duty trucks and tractors. Learners will service and adjust heavy duty clutches. Learners will also review overhaul procedures on axles and differentials, as well as service procedures for driveshaft components.
Covers customer installation, odor investigations, house piping codes and installation methods, commercial meter operation, pipe cutting and threading, steel main tapping and stopping, cathodic protection and testing, corrosion control, and contrasts between steel and plastic gas systems.
Requires medical assistant students to integrate and apply knowledge and skills from all previous medical assistant courses in actual ambulatory health care settings. Learners perform medical assistant administrative, clinical, and laboratory duties under the supervision of trained mentors to effectively transition to the role of a medical assistant. This is a supervised, unpaid, clinical experience.
Instructs learners on the fundamentals of heavy duty transmissions. Learners will overhaul manual and automatic shifting transmissions, troubleshoot and repair fully automatic and automatic shifting manual transmissions and read wiring and air schematics.
