Student must have valid Wisconsin RN license and two years work experience (one year in long-term, home health, or rehabilitation care). This course will meet the state requirement for nurses who wish to become nursing assistant instructors.
Outlines the approaches to learning, technological systems, student resources, and administrative processes at Northcentral Technical College (NTC). This course promotes learners becoming familiar with the collegeâs academic expectations, available student supports, and institutional processes prior to the first day of class in an effort to achieve success in the first semester and beyond. Provides preparation for the for the national certification examination prepared by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Simulated registry examinations are utilized.
This final clinical course requires students to integrate and apply all knowledge learned in previous courses to the production of high quality images in the clinical setting with minimal direct and primarily indirect supervision . Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. Students are encouraged to demonstrate independent judgment in the performance of clinical competencies.
This course will cover topics related to the delivery of community and mental health care. Specific health needs of individuals, families, and groups will be addressed across the lifespan. Attention will be given to diverse and at-risk populations. Mental health concepts will concentrate on adaptive/maladaptive behaviors and specific mental health disorders. Community resources will be examined in relation to specific types of support offered to racial, ethnic, economically diverse individuals and groups.
This course covers nursing management and professional issues related to the role of the registered nurse. Emphasis is placed on preparing for practice as a registered nurse.

Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
This third level clinical course prepares radiography students to perform radiologic procedures on patients with varying degrees of direct and indirect supervision. Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of radiographic images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. An emphasis of the course is the demonstration of communication and critical thinking skills appropriate to the clinical setting.
This course focuses on the development of advanced clinical skills across the lifespan. Content includes advanced intravenous skills, blood product administration, chest tube systems, basic electrocardiogram interpretation and nasogastric/feeding tube insertion.
Introduces radiography students to the process and components of imaging. Students determine the factors that affect image quality including contrast, receptor exposure, spatial resolution and distortion.
