All LE academy candidates and law enforcement recruits must complete and pass the physical readiness test. The test must by completed at a DOJ certified law enforcement academy. This test will meet that standard.
This class deals with developing effective communication tactics for dealing with the public, your clientele, and fellow staff members to include supervisors, peers, and subordinates, and well as other professionals.Course Objectives: Display PCS; knowledge and comprehension, skills application and analysis ability, performance synthesis and evaluation /articulation ability in the Professional Communications Skills Curriculum.. This curriculum is endorsed by the Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) and is required for instructors seeking LESB certification.
Through classroom lecture, and on-campus lab, and WI Department of Justice integration exercises students will learn and apply skills addressed in the following WI Department of Justice 720 Academy curriculum framework Phase I topics: Critical Thinking and Decision-Making, Basic Response (RESPOND), Radio Procedures, Introduction to TraCS, Traffic Law Enforcement I, First Aid, CPR/AED, and Naloxone/Narcan, and Physical Fitness. Emphasizes basic fire behavior, techniques used to control structural and related fire emergencies and life safety practices. Learners perform all practical evolutions necessary to control and extinguish fires and otherwise meet all requirements for Firefighter 1 certification with the state of Wisconsin.
Prepares the learner to recognize, process and preserve physical evidence with emphasis on domestic abuse, sexual assault and crimes against life. Includes a three hour lab in which students develop investigative skills and apply them in various scenarios.
Explores non-negotiable moral traits inherent in ethical policing. Applies ethical decision-making skills to situations encountered in achieving the police mission.
Utilize effective communication techniques to build community relationships. Various problem solving methods will be examined as learners participate in scenarios.
Utilizes Wisconsin Statutes to conduct in-depth studies in criminal law. Areas of concentration are crimes against persons, property, morality, decency and governmental functions.
This 96-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform fire fighting functions at the nationally recognized minimum levels under direct supervision. The targeted audience is individuals who desire to become Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter I based on the requirements set by SPS 330.08, Employment standards, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Current Edition, Chapters 5.2 through 5.5. The participant must also complete the Hazardous Materials Operation level course in order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPR requirements.

Prepares the participant to be able to perform the minimum hazardous material incident operations associated with firefighting functions at an advanced nationally recognized level under general supervision. The targeted audience is individuals who have completed the training required to meet the Fire Fighter I JPRs in NFPA 1001, and desire to increase their knowledge and skills base to the next level. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter II candidate with the information needed to meet the operational level competencies for the hazardous material first responder as referenced in the job performance requirements (JPRs) in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4, 4-1.1. It is based on the National Fire Academy (NFA) Initial Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents: Basic Concepts and Initial Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents: Concepts Implementation curriculums.
