Examines personal and professional leadership characteristics needed by learners involved in projects, either as the project lead or as a project team member. In Project Leadership Principles learners examine leading, managing, and controlling for success in project management. Learners identify how the organizational structure, organizational culture, project life cycle model, and roles of various players impact project success. Learners will examine how high-performance teams are organized and developed includes engaging stakeholders, managing communications, and running project meetings.
Utilize knowledge of concepts acquired from courses throughout the Supply Chain Management program. The learner will be given the opportunity to analyze, modify and test changes in supply chain design using simulation software to determine alternatives concerning the locations of distribution centers, modes of transportation, inventory and safety stocking levels. Learners will present to management of the supply chain organization various financial statements, supply chain performance metrics, scenarios and supporting data to demonstrate their knowledge in designing and implementing supply chain design strategies.
Examines the factors that impact the design and management of global supply chains. Learners will examine financial, logistical, cultural, political, and supply risk factors impacting the efficient and effective flow of commerce between countries and regions of the world. Factors that firms take into account when considering whether to procure domestically or globally, including outsourcing and in-sourcing decisions, are analyzed. Strategic decisions involving which production facilities to own and where to locate the facilities are also discussed.
Obtain practical, hands-on experience while applying skills developed in the Supply Chain Management program by selecting and completing an applicable experience related to (select one): an internship, industry research, industry experience or service learning. Completion of the chosen experience will demonstrate knowledge of the program TSA (Technical Skill Attainment) outcomes.
Gain an operational knowledge of the principles of demand planning and inventory management. The planning side of operations is examined including master scheduling, requirements planning, capacity management, shop floor control and forecasting. Inventory management involves controlling the flow of materials and information to effectively manage an organization's material resources, minimize costs, and provide high levels of customer service. The course provides practical exercises in effective inventory techniques and concepts culminating in creating an inventory control plan for an organization.
Examines the logistics, transportation and distribution functions of supply chain management. These functions plan, implement, and control the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements. Learners will examine practical management perspective in the following areas: order management, distribution, transportation, international logistics, inventory control, warehousing facility location, sustainable logistics practices, key performance indicators and supply chain finance.
Introduces the key concepts of supply chain management. Effective Supply Chain Management has become an important component in an organizations ability to stay competitive. Learners examine planning and demand management, supplier management, operations management, customer relationship management, and logistics management. Learners explore the integration and best practices that occur in these supply chain operational areas to deliver a product or service to the customer.
