Complete job shadowing in a community-based salon while under the supervision of a licensed cosmetologist.
Examine how microorganisms relate to the salon environment. Explore the different levels of infection control in the salon, and the Wisconsin Statutes- Administrative Codes relating to safety and sanitation.
Examine the structure of cells and systems of the human body. Identify hair and scalp disorders, diseases and conditions. Explore related anatomy to the cosmetology field such as bone and muscle structures.
Examine how personality, teamwork and ethics contribute to both personal and professional success within the cosmetology industry. Through implementation of safety and infection control practices, learners will execute a positive guest experience including, the greeting of guests to completion of services. Learners will complete this course in an on-campus salon environment.
Introduces theoretical concepts in anatomy and physiology related to the profession. The study of the structure, growth, diseases, disorders and conditions of the nail. The study of anatomy of the hand, arm, foot, and leg to effectively apply massage techniques. Safety and infection control practices will be introduced with procedures to be followed with each and every service.
Provide services to Studio Max guests under the supervision of an instructor. Learners will complete the following services in a salon setting: manicuring, pedicuring, cutting, styling, scalp treatments, and hair coloring. Competencies will include determining how a front desk is run, along with the importance of inventory control and record keeping.
Gain skills in manicuring, pedicures, and advanced nail enhancement techniques, including polish application. Learners will determine nail shapes and proper nail care services with safety and infection control. Learners will perform paraffin dips for hands and feet. Advanced techniques will be taught and practiced in this course along with many nail art applications.
