This 96-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform fire fighting functions at the nationally recognized minimum levels under direct supervision. The targeted audience is individuals who desire to become Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter I based on the requirements set by SPS 330.08, Employment standards, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Current Edition, Chapters 5.2 through 5.5. The participant must also complete the Hazardous Materials Operation level course in order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPR requirements.

This course is open only to those who have had a court-ordered assessment from an approved assessment agency.

Nitro-X Automotive Summer Camp is designed to introduce middle school students to transportation careers. Students will work with NTC faculty, staff, and industry professionals to prepare, paint, and customize a remote-control car using the same materials and techniques used in the collision repair industry. The Wood Industry Teacher Camp is an immersive, hands-on professional development experience designed to connect K12 educators and administrators with the forest products industry. This program highlights all the steps and careers in the wood industry from log evaluation and lumber manufacturing to drying lumber and making finished products. Participants will operate commercial scale equipment at the NTC Wood Technology Center of Excellence including the new state of the art training sawmill. In addition to hands on experience, participants will also learn about resources to take back to their classrooms and go on an industry tour to gain further insight into this field.
