Explores the effects of substance use on the family. Examine multigenerational family systems approach, which includes an examination of how each family member develops his/her coping mechanisms. Synthesize the issues of historical trauma, co-dependency, adult children of alcoholic/addict caregivers, family roles within dysfunctional families and the dynamics of family interventions. Apply reflective practitioner techniques. Assess boundaries and ethical issues commonly found in families.
