Covers circular saw fitting, sharpening and saw guide maintenance and repair. Learners identify and measure the seven angles of sharpness, including radial and tangential angles, and set up grinders to achieve proper tooth geometry. Individuals evaluate saw roundness, calculate kerf, identify grinder wheel wear and perform fitting tasks including grinding gullets, cutting carbide seats, grinding shanks and installing tooth inserts. Students inspect saw guides for bruising and scarring, determine clearance requirements, machine and inspect babbitt guides, use a guide dresser and determine proper guide thickness. Course covers proper PPE, material handling, and maintaining a safe work area.
