Covers the repair and maintenance of large headrig and deck circular saws. Learners examine key terminology, saw blade components, and operating factors including RPM, horsepower and tooth bite. Hands-on activities develop skills in benching large circular saw blades, including identifying the log side, using straight edges to identify and remove saw deformations, and using an RPM gauge to assess saw tension. Learners also develop fitting skills with emphasis on proper tooth geometry, inserts and shanks. Machine center maintenance includes the inspection and maintenance of saw collars and guides.
