Northcentral Technical College, in partnership with Engineering Tomorrow and Learn Build Fly, is sponsoring an Engineering STEM camp to explore the field of engineering. Students will participate in hands-on instructional labs to ignite curiosity about Design and Product Development Engineering. Each day, the students will receive cutting-edge instruction led by professional engineers.
During the first day, students will learn about the engineering design process, investigate different materials, learn about Autodesk Inventor in the engineering design process through the design of race car parts and their impact on race car performance. After the lab and lunch in NTC’s STEM Center (lunch is provided), students will be bussed to CTech Manufacturing to tour and observe the engineering process in design and product development. Students will be bussed back to NTC for parent pick up at 3:00 PM.
On the second day, the students will learn about the engineer's role in design and product development by engineering a package that gets the product to its destination intact in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. Will the students be able to design and develop a package that keeps a single potato chip intact during testing?
The third day will begin at NTC Wausau Campus. Next, students will be bused to the Learn Build Fly Hangar at the Wausau Airport. Students will engage in a hands-on Sound and Acoustics engineering Lab. Students will also learn how engineers design aircraft to mitigate sound. Parents will need to pick up their students at the Learn Build Fly Hanger at the Wausau Airport at 11:30 AM.
