In mid-March, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers visited Northcentral Technical College’s Wausau campus for a tour of Studio 7 and the Communication Technology Center of Excellence.

The visit was part of his ongoing efforts across the state to promote Film Wisconsin.

During the visit, students and staff showcased NTC’s state-of-the-art facilities, the College’s Video Production program and student projects. Governor Evers was able to see the kind of hands-on, high quality learning environment that prepares students for success in the field.

NTC offers a Video Production Associate Degree designed to prepare learners to design, produce and edit professional video content for a variety of audiences. Students gain practical experience using industry-standard cameras, lighting, audio equipment and editing software. The program is designed for learners who are interested in visual storytelling, creative collaboration and using digital media to engage and inform audiences.

NTC also recently introduced four new certificates: Video Production: Foundational Techniques & Tools, Video Production: Storytelling Fundamentals, Video Production: Post-Production and Video Production: Advanced Post Production. These offerings provide expanded opportunities for learners to build specialized skills in key areas of video production.

Governor Evers also learned about the Film, Farm and Culture Fest, an annual event that began in 2025 and will return this summer. The festival will run July 23 through August 1 with screenings scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The festival highlights what is possible when community partners invest in NTC students and their futures. Visitors are encouraged to explore the festival’s website to learn more.
