At Northcentral Technical College (NTC), Professional Agriculture Students (PAS) isn’t just a club – it's where future agriculture leaders take root.

The club brings together students who are growing more than just their knowledge of agriculture. They’re building leadership skills, making industry connections and cultivating friendships. Whether they’re preparing for competitions or just hanging out together between class, PAS members are proof that getting involved is one of the best ways to make the college experience at NTC memorable.

This year, the chapter was also defined by an extraordinary level of leadership. NTC had an unprecedented number of students serving as officers at both the state and national levels. Anya Mueller is the State President, and Aubrey Arneson is the First Vice President on the Wisconsin PAS board. Kelsey Jascor served as the National Secretary during the 2025-2026 academic year, and Brindelyn Eternicka served as the National Vice President of Conference Planning on the National PAS board. This marked the seventh consecutive year that NTC has had an officer elected to the national board. At the National PAS Conference in Branson, Missouri in March 2026, Brindelyn was re-elected, and Aubrey was newly elected to serve in  Vice President roles for the upcoming year.

“This is the first time we’ve ever had this many officers at the same time,” said Charl Van Der Nest, PAS Chapter Co-Advisor and Animal & Dairy Science faculty. “There were 11 applications for a national officer position in 2025 and 13 applications in 2026, and the chances that two people from the same school get on the board is slim to none.”

PAS is made up of institutions ranging from technical colleges to four-year universities across more than a dozen states, and NTC students were at the forefront of leading the organization.

For many of the members in NTC’s PAS chapter, joining started as a simple search for connection.

Aubrey, who is in the Agronomy and Agribusiness Science and Technology programs, was very involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) in high school. When she came to NTC, she was looking for something similar.

“Sometimes I have a hard time reaching out to people and making friends, so the club really helped with that,” she said. “You get to know people with the same interests as you. I’ve met some of my best friends through this club.”

In an environment where students tend to spend most of their time with other students in the same program, PAS creates a space for connections across disciplines.

“I love the connection,” said Kelsey. “You meet so many people you wouldn’t otherwise meet. Programs and classes are small, but in the club you meet people from other programs, and on trips you meet people from other colleges.”

Kelsey is in the Dairy Science Management and Agribusiness Science and Technology programs at NTC.

In addition to meeting students from both their own school and from other colleges, the state and national conferences also give students the opportunity to meet industry professionals.

“A lot of the judges for the competitions are industry representatives," Brindelyn said. “They will help you, give you input on your project, what you can improve on and what will help you thrive in the industry.”

Brindelyn is also in the Dairy Science Management and Agribusiness Science and Technology programs.

PAS also pushes students to grow. The competitions at the state and national conferences teach students skills like public speaking, communication and leadership and allow them to practice in real-world scenarios. At the 2026 National Conference, there were over 550 students from around the country competing in various event categories.

“There are so many people that don’t have the skills that you need to go into the workforce, Kelsey said. “You get to build so many skills in a practice environment, and then you’re more ready to get the job you want and build your future.”

The NTC chapter co-advisors, Charl and Trevor Frank, are passionate about the role the club plays in building the future leaders of agriculture. Both instructors help run the Wisconsin PAS state conference, and Charl has served on the National board for five years.

“I love PAS because I see the growth,” Charl said. “They become better students, better individuals and more career focused professionals.”
