(WAUSAU, Wis.) – Northcentral Technical College’s (NTC) Rocket League varsity esports team will join the ranks of Boise State and Mizzou in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) playoffs following a wildcard win against Randolph-Macon College. More than 120 teams competed, with only 32 teams advancing to the playoffs.

"We have a really strong team this season and making it to the playoffs was the goal," said Jon DeGroot, Head Coach of NTC Esports. "Everyone is so excited and the players are ready to go up against some of the best college teams in the nation."

NTC’s varsity esports team is in its second year of competitive play and has already attracted students across the state to compete. Cauy Huntington, NTC Rocket League varsity esports student-athlete and video production student from Almond-Bancroft, says joining NTC’s Rocket League has been a lifetime goal.

“It’s been a dream my whole life to play on a team like this,” said Huntington.

NTC will face the University of Montana Grizzlies in the first round of playoffs scheduled for Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The single elimination best of five playoff tournament continues with another game at 8:15 p.m. CST. Winning teams will advance to the quarter and semifinals that will be held on November 10, 2020.
