Introduces various topics in equine healthcare such as colic prevention, hoof structure, hoof care, common foot problems, parasites and vaccines. Learners will study methods for recognizing illness and administering basic first aid. Concepts for equine nutritional requirements and how they relate to equine healthcare will be further analyzed. This course provides a combination of online and hands on learning with required in-person labs.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
This third level clinical course prepares radiography students to perform radiologic procedures on patients with varying degrees of direct and indirect supervision. Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of radiographic images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. An emphasis of the course is the demonstration of communication and critical thinking skills appropriate to the clinical setting.
Explores mechanisms involved in the development of hematological disorders. Emphasis is placed upon laboratory techniques used to diagnose disorders and monitor treatment.
Apply basic surgical theories, principles, and procedural techniques in the operating room. Students begin to function as team members under the guidance of the instructor and authorized clinical personnel.
This fourth level clinical course prepares radiography students to perform radiologic procedures on patients. The student transitions from direct to indirect supervision as competency performance increases. Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of radiographic images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. Students are encouraged to demonstrate independent judgment in the performance of clinical competencies.
Introduces radiography students to the principles and applications of x-ray technology. Students analyze how x-rays are produced and determine the corrective actions necessary for common equipment malfunctions.
The learner will develop study strategies necessary for success in the program work. This course will provide opportunities to master topics such as time management, memorization techniques, note-taking, concentration, use of resources, and test taking.
Introduces clinical chemistry techniques and procedures for routine analysis using photometric, potentiometric and separation techniques. Topics in this course include pathophysiology and methodologies for carbohydrate, lipids, proteins, renal function and blood gas analysis. Additional topics include hepatic, cardiac markers, tumor markers, endocrine function, miscellaneous body fluids, toxicology, enzymes and electrolytes.
Presents the clinical importance of infectious diseases with emphasis upon the appropriate collection, handling and identification of clinically relevant bacteria. Disease states, modes of transmission and methods of prevention and control, including antibiotic susceptibility testing, will also be discussed.

Further experience in a clinical setting allows the student to continue to improve technical skills while accepting more responsibilities during surgical procedures.
Prepares the learner to perform a complete urinalysis which includes physical, chemical and microscopic analysis. The learner will explore renal physiology and correlate urinalysis results with clinical conditions.
