We know the financial aid process is complex, and this year has been no exception.

In a normal processing year, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is released on October 1. Students complete the FAFSA, the FAFSA is processed, and within 3-5 business days the electronic file containing processed FAFSAs are sent to colleges. Students and colleges are typically able to make corrections to the FAFSA immediately after it is processed.

Through the FAFSA Simplification Act, the FAFSA has undergone a complete redesign. The goal was to simplify the financial aid process and expand aid eligibility for students. While we are optimistic students will experience these benefits in the future, the transition has led to delays in both the federal government’s rollout and processing of the form.

Financial Aid Offers

The Financial Aid Office has begun packaging financial aid offers for the summer semester. Presently, efforts are concentrated on addressing the backlog of summer financial aid offers. Following this, processing of financial aid offers for the fall semester will begin.

Summer financial aid offers will be awarded automatically if you've met the eligibility criteria:

  • Accepted in a financial aid eligible program
  • Have a completed FAFSA with financial aid eligibility for the summer term
  • Enrolled in at least one credit for PELL Grant eligibility and at least six credits for loan eligibility
  • Completed any action items displayed on your Workday home page.

If you are eligible for summer semester funding, you will be notified with an email sent to your NTC student email account, and via the Financial Aid section of your Workday student account.

Remember, your financial aid award is calculated based on enrollment in required courses within your financial aid eligible program only. Any associate degree is eligible, along with most technical diploma programs.

Full details on accepting and declining financial aid can be found here.

NTC will allow students to begin charging their required course materials for their summer classes starting on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the NTC Campus Store.

To be eligible to charge required materials to your account, students must have a completed FAFSA with NTC, accepted in a financial aid eligible program, and enrolled in classes. This eligibility will be reviewed by Campus Store staff for each purchase made. For additional details, please reach out to the Campus Store team at 715.803.1154 or campusstore@ntc.edu.

For a list of disbursement dates for the summer semester, please visit the Important Dates & Announcements web page.

Before you make a change to the number of credit hours you are enrolled in, please contact your Student Success Advisor. A change in credit hours can affect your financial aid award even after you have accepted the award.
