We know the financial aid process is complex, and this year has been no exception.
In a normal processing year, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is released on October 1. Students complete the FAFSA, the FAFSA is processed, and within 3-5 business days the electronic file containing processed FAFSAs are sent to colleges. Students and colleges are typically able to make corrections to the FAFSA immediately after it is processed.
Through the FAFSA Simplification Act, the FAFSA has undergone a complete redesign. The goal was to simplify the financial aid process and expand aid eligibility for students. While we are optimistic students will experience these benefits in the future, the transition has led to delays in both the federal government’s rollout and processing of the form.

Financial Aid Offers
Summer and fall 2024 course registration in Workday opened Monday, April 15th. We expect to be able to provide students who have successfully completed a 2024-25 FAFSA with their estimated financial aid offers by mid-May. If this changes, that information will be communicated.
In March, NTC announced its transition to a new Student Information System, Workday. Workday will now automatically generate a provisional (temporary) financial aid estimate for any student who has successfully completed a 2024-25 FAFSA and been admitted to a financial aid eligible program, even if they haven't registered for classes yet. This provisional (temporary) financial aid offer is determined based on a projected full-time enrollment status until May 1st at which time offers will be updated to reflect actual enrollment.
What can students do now?
- If you haven’t already done so, file your 2024-2025 FAFSA. NTC’s school code is 005387.
- Ask questions. If you have questions regarding the financial aid process or filling out your FAFSA, reach out to the Financial Aid Office. We are here to help!
- Keep planning. Current students should still meet with their advisor; plan for the upcoming academic year, and register for courses when registration opens.
- Apply for scholarships. Visit the NTC Scholarships webpage or explore one of the many scholarship search websites:
- Keep your eye on your students.ntc.edu email address. When your financial aid offer notification is ready to be viewed in Workday, you will receive an email in your students.ntc.edu email account with next steps.
We want to assure you that, as “the college that cares”, we are here to support you every step of the way. Our Financial Aid Office is available to answer your questions, provide guidance on completing the FAFSA, and assist with navigating the changes.
