Introduces the learner to the knowledge and skills required of an entry level central service technician. Cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilization of instrumentation and equipment, as well as methods of process monitoring will be emphasized. Learners will also review medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and microbiology as it applies to Central Service. This course includes both lecture and lab experiences.

Learners will apply personal responsibility thinking and behaviors; self- management, awareness, and motivation strategies; as well as interdependence skills to develop a proactive life plan.

Develops a variety of law enforcement reports, utilizing field notes to accurately and fairly convey necessary information for use by investigators, prosecutors and the public.
Focuses on preparing the patient and operating room for surgery. Principles of sterile technique are emphasized as the student moves into the scrub role. Lab practice is included.
Utilizes Wisconsin Statutes to conduct in-depth studies in juvenile law. Areas of concentration are crimes against children, children in need of protection and services, and the juvenile justice code. Analyzes the role of law enforcement and other agencies in responding to and investigating juvenile procedures. Methods and models of prevention and rehabilitation are evaluated.
Provides the foundational knowledge of surgical core and specialty procedures. Examines the pathophysiology, diagnostic interventions, health sciences, and surgical techniques for a variety of procedures.
Apply basic surgical theories, principles, and procedural techniques in the operating room. Students begin to function as team members under the guidance of the instructor and authorized clinical personnel.
Prepares the learner to recognize, process and preserve physical evidence with emphasis on domestic abuse, sexual assault and crimes against life. Includes a three hour lab in which students develop investigative skills and apply them in various scenarios.

Explore nine current issues related to law enforcement of today. Learners will be given scenarios that speak to those issues and will be expected to research, reflect and eventually respond to those scenarios in a manner that effectively addresses the issues being explored.

Learners will have the opportunity to engage in self-assessment of communication competence and learn strategies for enhancing their abilities. Problems in the context of professional communication will be identified and theory based solutions generated.
Analyze the dynamics of the staff-supervisor relationship within a unionized organization. Learners will examine methods of improving organizational communication, performance and sustainability in a union environment.
